All –
With the focus to increase the membership base in our club without fixed cost increases and minimal maintenance, the decision has been made to provide a Jib and Main fleet to supplement the Middle Distance and Buoy fleets. This will provide a new level of entry for boats that don’t currently race, an option for boats that are short handed, better graduated steps between fleets, and fairer racing within fleets.
Outlined below is the solution to help manage the racing and will be incorporated into the respective SI. Let me know if you have any questions.

*It’s anticipated that shortened course will only be needed in light air. Sufficient solution can be just a radio call; however adjusting finish location may need to be an option.
** The intent of an auto pilot is only a brief period of time to assist with maneuvers that require additional hands. However, boats need to be under command and able to respond to others boats under the right of way rules. If more definitive instructions are needed, SI can include limiting use outside 3 boat lengths of competitors and/or only with 3 or less crew, etc. This option facilitates smaller crew that want to avoid expense and difficulty of finding reliable crew, and/or an owner who may wish to sail with just a significant other. Captains are responsible for boat and crew and the use of an autopilot is their judgment. No one has to race their boat short-handed if they think it, or the crew, cannot handle a short-handed undertaking.
