> Greetings members,
>
> It is with deep sorrow that I inform everyone of the passing of our member Stu Keys of Depere, WI. Some of you may know him from his Chicago-Mac, Trans-Superior and Port Huron solo races. Stu lived in northern Wisconsin his whole life and was a passionate solo sailor and racer who charmed and educated all who knew him. His son Sam is also a GLSS member, who completed his first Challenge on my boat, Madcap, in 2013 and won the President's Cup.
>
> My wife, Marian, and I, had the pleasure of watching Stu and his son duke it out through the Straits of Mackinac during their first solo-Mac photo finish as Stu narrowly beat Sam boat-for-boat over the line but Sam corrected over.
>
> Stu's boat was found washed ashore after he fell overboard sailing solo. The Coast Guard recovered his body on Saturday, May 14 off of Sturgeon Bay, WI.
>
> Stu was a great competitor and loyal friend who always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He will be greatly missed by the countless friends he made through his years sailing on Lake Michigan.
>
> Visitation is scheduled 11 am - 1 pm at Huehn's Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay on Wed., May 18. Afterwards there will be a celebration of his life "to my best friend and the greatest father a son could ever have. Wahu Mahu!" in Sam's words.
