[Capri25] J-22 Fleet offers to "sell their souls" to the Capri Fleet

If we do what the J-22 fleet wants, on Thursday September 14th we will
need to go to Shorewood and move the boats all the way back to Wayzata
Bay to run a race that starts at 5:45 pm.  I have problems figuring out
how we can do that considering everybody's work commitments.

Hi Capri Friends,
 
I have procrastinated too long about passing along this news, but here
are few things that transpired at the J-22 Winter Madness Party.  They
are, indeed, asking us for some huge favors, and are willing to do
"almost" anything in return.
 
1.  Mooring and docking.  The J-22 North American Championship regatta
begins at WYC on Monday, September 11th.  They expect 50-70 boats to
participate.  They would like ALL of the boats to be tied to a dock (not
on a buoy) at WYC, to facilitate rigging, partying, etc.  Many of the
J-22s at WYC are kept on lifts.  For the regatta, they will not be
allowed to "dry sail".  For the J-22s with lifts, I (who volunteered to
be in charge of interacting with the other fleets to facilitate this
adventure) will attempt to arrange slip-trades with Sonars.  (They tell
me a J-22 lift can handle a Sonar.)  They (the J-22s) would like most,
if not all, Capris (and S2s, PHRFs, J24s, etc.) with slips, to move over
to Shorewood Yacht Club for the week.  Mike Maloney, who is the new
owner of Shorewood Yacht Club, has offered free mooring, and "taxi"
service will also be arranged.  
 
2.  C-Dock Party.  The party is currently scheduled for August 27th.
Out-of-town J-22s will be arriving on Sunday, September 10th.  The J-22s
would like us to change the date of the C-Dock party to September 10th
to show the out-of-towners what a unique and fabulous social scene we
have at WYC.  The drawback I see to this idea, is that after racing, and
partying, in a state of total exhaustion, we will have to caravan our
boats over to Shorewood and then get rides back to WYC to our cars, or
have a crew to move our cars to Shorewood.  For this, we should think of
some really major payback from the Js!
 
3.  Regatta Dinner Planning/Cooking/Serving/Cleanup.  This part is cool.
The J-22 fleet has offered to be completely in charge of our Capri
Nationals dinner on Friday, June 16th.  (We still pay for the food.)  In
exchange, they would like the Capri fleet to reciprocate by being
responsible for one of their dinners, either Monday September 11th, or
Tuesday September 12th.

graciously accepted!
