[Capri25] mast gate?

Hi Jeff

by mast gate I assume you mean a device that will allow you to raise a main that has slugs instead of a rope, and to allow the slugs to be gated to the mast when the sail is down.  I had the exact problem and did the following.

- bought some angle aluminum.  I got it at Home Depot about 1" square
- cut to 2 8 " long pieces
- drilled 3 sideways elongated holes through one side of each piece
- drilled and tapped 3 holes onto both sides of the mast in position to accept a screw going through the alumimun

- when I wanted to use my main with slugs, I found loosen the screws, put the sail on, then slide the plates to close the opening and tighten the screws

I no longer own the boat but new owner wants some help stepping the mast today or tomorrow, I can take a picture if you want
