Whale makes a very nice unit called the Smartpump (I think) that includes the handle in the design. That way you could pump the bilge before every race and not have to worry about that water. I put one on Captain Hook. We used to get all the crew at the stern and have one person bail. Then we took out the wood floor and drilled two access holes. There are 2 blind sumps / bilge's in all Capri's. Consensus drilled 2 holes, one on each side of the keel with a hole saw. Under the cabin sole there is an air gap, a layer of plywood and another air gap. You need to drill through to the second air gap.
