The Capri-25 fleet falls in the first category which helps make them a great fleet. Therefore, it would make sense to use a process in selecting your fleet officers that is not significantly different than that in the attachment which shows the criteria for selecting WYC board members and flag officers.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"> </span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">1.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">They don't need to be a full member of the yacht club nor a boat owner to be a good fleet Capt.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">2.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">You probably want a hard-core racer who is also embedded in the social environment of the fleet.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">3.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">They must love the boat and the fleet.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">4.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">Because the Capri fleet is complex with rules, procedures and activity, it’s pretty important that you have somebody who is competent.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">5.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">It's important that you have somebody who is willing and wants to serve the fleet they love</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">6.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">It must be the right time in their personal life so that they will have the time to contribute. That means not too busy at work, not too busy at home, and not too busy with other outside activities.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoListParagraph" style="text-indent:-.25in"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"><span style="">7.<span style="font:7.0pt "Times New Roman""> </span></span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">In some fleets, it is important to have a fleet captain with leadership qualities and a strong principle of fairness, with the ability to say “no” to some loud voices in the fleet who are constantly wanting to change the rules to make them advantageous to their own self-interest.</span></p><p class="ecxMsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D"> </span></p><p class="ecxMsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:#1F497D">I hope you find this helpful.
