The weather is hot, so we are going to cool down with a buoy race, sans boats. Yes, a race without boats. We like to call it a Floatation Buoy Race (FBR).

We will be setting up a course with multiple heats created by floatation type, i.e. lifejackets, PFDs, inflatables, noodles, etc. The winners of each heat will move on to the next round. The race will be held even if it is raining. You are going to be wet anyway. ;-)

We have chosen a location with minimal weeds, but they remain in issue. For those who don't like the feel of weeds on their feet or legs, it is recommended that you wear water shoes and leggings. A floatation device that supports your entire body might also be a good idea.

July 20, 2013
Location: Launch on the West parking lot
5:30p - ?

RULES

Rule 1: One person per float
Rule 2: No sails or motors
Rule 3: Water pistols, Super Soakers and other nefarious water toys are encouraged so long as they don't leave residue in the water (i.e. no water balloons).
Rule 4: The Racing Rules of Sailing Mark-Room rule (Rule 18) shall apply
Rule 5: Outside help involving performance, tactics, or coaching requested or given to help any skipper during a race is not a violation, it is encouraged.
Rule 6: Penalties – When the protest committee decides that a vessel has broken a rule, the skipper of said vessel shall jump into the lake naked, or have to drink a gallon of beer, or buy the other vessel captain a round of drinks.
Rule 7: No spilling of alcoholic beverages into the lake. This is not only harmful to the chemical balance of the lake and its inhabitants, but it wastes perfectly good alcohol. If you feel you need to intoxicate yourself while competing, an enclosed drinking container is recommended.
Rule 8: Points will be awarded for creativity
Rule 9: You must have fun.
Adult beverages will be served. Bring your own food and something to share for dinner following the race. The grill and club are open to all.

Oh, and the sailing. You can start that whenever you want. If you don't have a boat, show up. You'll find a ride.
