[J22-Fleet 1] J22 NAs update/Rant

Take a look at how the J-24 fleet did it with average Points. They give
average points for races missed for travel events, they also set up
which travel events will qualify for any given season, and what races on
either end of the travel can qualify....within reason. Some folks got
average points for travel that seemed extreme. Ie, pulled early, put
back in late, and wanted average points for two champ races for one
travel event.
To my knowledge, the fleet set up a maximum number of average points you
could get in a season.
Tim O. or Chad could help us come up with a plan. It seemed to work for
the 24 fleet.

I have one for the agenda:
4b) How to score boats who attend off the lake regattas during the
regular WYC season.
It always causes controversy and we have never really formalized any
fleet sanctioned rules for the scorer to go by.

Well its time to finish the J 22 Wealth Enhancement Group NA's.
Right now everyone thinks that Dave Van Cleef got second place at the
Wealth Enhancement Group J22 North Americans. He did not. He was
disqualified from all the races. Most of our guests at the regatta left
thinking the club, the protest committee and the awards committee made a
huge mistake by letting Dave Van Cleef go home with the trophies. Unless
we explain the rules, the procedure and the final outcome, that is what
people will remember "Washergate" and how we let the guy who was
disqualified from racing walk away with all the second place trophies.
Let's show the world we did the right thing.
Time to finish this and put it to bed.
The measurement protest was upheld and the appeal denied.
I need your help.
I need to mail a copy of the updated results to all the competitors of
the Wealth Enhancement Group J22 NA championship. To do this I will need
a list of all the names and addresses of the competitors at the 2006
Wealth Enhancement Group J22 NA championship.
I will write a short update about the protest and appeal to be included
with the results and the request to have all the trophies shipped back
or forwarded to the rightful owners
I need someone to supply the stamps and envelopes.
I need help to address, package. stamp and mail the results.
I need to collect all the trophies awarded at the event and send them to
their rightful owners or send each skipper a box and address so they can
forward the trophies.. This will take some time so lets jump on this to
get it sorted out. We are not done yet
If I can have all the parts by Friday then with the help of 3-4 people
and an hour of time we will be done. I'll buy the Beer and Mount Gay
The on line links to the results should also be current. The J22 web
site, North, Quantum, Scuttlebutt, SA and many more web sites all point
to a page that is dead. I know we saved some money by doing this lets
spend some of the profits and make it right.
Other things we need to accomplish
1) I'm still waiting for the "Tape"
2) J22 winter party
3) Fleet officers election
4) Fleet by laws
Feel free to add to the agenda, do you want to have any training
sessions this summer? do you want to sponsor a dock party this summer?
shall we start up the mentor program? Other Ideas?
Lets keep the momentum going but first lets finish what was started 2
years ago when the club bid on the NA's
