Fleet 1,

It's not too late.  Fresh water and as close as a major 22 event gets.

Subject: North Americans info

The organizing committee has been hard at work making sure the J/22 North Americans at Tawas Bay Yacht Club in Michigan is a great success. This is a heads-up with some details on the social schedule to allow those of you who are already registered to plan your trip and maybe entice a few more of you to come up and join us!

Three social packages are included with your registration. Social tickets for additional team members or guests may be purchased for $60 at registration. Purchases at the club (including at the bar) while you’re here can be made on your temporary membership account which you can sign up for at registration. The social calendar includes:

On Saturday 9/8, Fleet 44 will host a barbeque. Come join us for a casual meal after a long day of travel and boat work. Weather permitting, we’ll enjoy a campfire after dinner.

On Sunday 9/9, the opening ceremony and skippers' meeting will be followed by a Mexican buffet under the tent. There will be free keg beer and the special in the bar is Rear Commodore Derek Carroll’s choice of Seven and Sevens.

On Monday 9/10, there will be keg beer following racing. Dinner will be (what else at the "Bay of Pigs"?) pulled pork sandwiches, pork sausage and sauerkraut, sides, and bacon desserts. The special in the bar is Vice Commodore Jennifer Princing’s selection of Dark and Stormys.

Tuesday 9/11, following the keg beer we welcome you to head into Tawas and enjoy one of the local restaurants for dinner.

On Wednesday 9/12, there will be keg beer following racing. Please set your travel plans to allow for staying for the awards and celebration following. We’ll be featuring great lakes whitefish and dinner will be followed by entertainment by TBYC favorite Brett Mitchell and the Giant Ghost Band. The special in the bar is Commodore John Hess’ choice of Rum and Cokes.

If you have any questions or concerns leading up to the regatta, please contact one of the event co-chairs, Matt Princing (mdprincing at gmail.com) or Derek Carroll (chip_shot_d at yahoo.com). We’ll do whatever we can to get you to Tawas and have a great event.

The late entry deadline was extended through August 22, so there's still time to register at http://www.j22na.com/.
