Hello All,

On April 24th I attended the WYC fleet captain's meeting with Thorn.  He's still in charge until the Saturday Social of the Ice Breaker, but I'll be fielding all issue after that date.

A quick recap of the fleet meeting:

MYC has started a Crew Mentoring Program, I wasn't clear on all the details, but it sounds like you can put your name on a crew list (see MYC website) and get a ride on a Scow.  Most likely you'd get a last minute call on a windy day to be dead weight.  But I can tell you from experience that it is still a fun ride.

Protests after club races will be actively administered by Jarod rather than having to hunt down a member of the Protest Committee to hand in forms.  Jarod will be stationed in the NE corner of the club house after races entering race data and collecting forms.  That said, lets do our best to complete penalty turns on the water and avoid protests!

The J22 Fleet is hosting the A series party on June 16th.  We will discuss further at the Saturday Social of the Cool Cup.

As always, remember to contact your fleet captain, Michael Bowers (msbowers at alum.mit.edu) with any scoring issues you may have.  I will pass them on to the RC and Scoring Chairs.

We are currently scheduled to have our first "Rumble in the Bay" on June 16th.  At the request of the Laser sailors in our fleet I am negotiating with the Carpi and Sonar fleets to try to swap dates.  For those of you who are not up aware of the "Rumble in the Bay", the concept was originated by the Capri fleet to have a series of short races in the bay in lieu of a regular Sunday afternoon race on the main lake.  The format will give lots of start and mark rounding practice and will keep the fleet in much tighter quarters so boat handling and crew work will also be tested.

The finish order for the series of races will count as your score for 1 race in the Champ series and corresponding A, B, C series.  Only 1 participation credit will be given for the series regardless of the number of races completed.

Bert Foster asked us to remind everyone to file a protest in the event of a collision that creates damage worthy of an insurace claim.  Penalty turns & gentleman agreements aside, insurance adjusters are going to want a paper trail when determining how to pay out on a claim.  This is not legal advice or a requirement, but just a good idea to protect yourself and our fellow sailor's financial interests.

The Club management requested that we make sure our regular crew are aware that they are expected to pay a crew membership.  The race management, club facilities and beverages are a significant expense and need to be paid for by everyone that participates.

Parking...once again we ask that people do not park in the surrounding neighborhoods.  There will likely be issues with the construction going on in the Bay Center taking up a number of the spot we normally use.  Bert is going to ask the board to work with the city to find a solution.  Stay tuned for more infomation on this subject.

Finally, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Wine on Wayzata Bay event on June 28th (buy tickets early and often!) and the Family Fun Regatta on June 15th.

In summary, Question about the Cool Cup, call Thorn.  Question about anything else, call or write me.
