[J22-Fleet 1] Learn to Sail Training Tomorrow – NEED HELP

Let's see how the conditions are in the morning. Most of these people have never been on a racing sailboat and I'm concerned that we might scare the heck out of them. There may be a few people there who are experienced racing sailors from out East who are properly dressed and want to go out in the extreme conditions.

Can we just put a main sail on a boat and take them out?  The experience on the water is half the fun!

WYC is conducting a learn-to-sail program tomorrow that was sold via a Groupon.  Bert asked if a few of us could show up and help out since we’re not sailing (they won’t be either which is why they need additional help).  

 

This would run a couple of hours starting at 9:30, and include lunch at the end.  Yes, there’s beer.  It will consist of a dryland session on “how to be a racing crew,” I think followed by some training on a boat but either on the lift or in the slip, NOT on the water.  

 

Anyone can help out here, you don’t need to be a boat owner.  Experienced crews have a lot to offer here.  This is a great opportunity to get a pitch in for 22s and help grow the Fleet and club.  It also officially does not count as a domestic points deduction for sailing.  

 

Please let me know if you can attend.
