Thanks for taking the lead on this.  Sounds like a great event.

Count 963 in.  Our only request would be that either Dave or I be onboard if we have a guest driver on our boat.

Since the winter fleet meeting, John Dyer, Mike Miller and I have been brainstorming a unique training Rumble.  We propose:
(1) Measure forestays and review the set up all of the J22s
(2) Have a short chalk talk/Q&A
(3) Switch crew
(4) Place guest skippers on different boats during the Rumble
(5) Videotape the Rumble

The goal is to share information.  By placing experienced guest skippers on different boats and changing crews, we can share different techniques and compare how the boats feel, with the goal of making everyone faster and more competitive.

As I have jumped from J22 to J22 this year, I've learned I do NOT like auto-ratchets on my spinnaker and skippers tacking techniques vary greatly.  In addition, I've found some boats are better balanced than others and, when skippers have wanted to pull the guy on the spinnaker set, I've shown them a different technique (one I learned from Jon Noller) that permits the skipper to drive, look for puffs and LEAVE my chute alone!

If we get pre-registration of 10 or more J22s, Terry Flynn of Quantum Sails is willing to travel here and make this Rumble a great learning and sharing experience.  Terry has been the Quantum sail representative for the J22 fleet since the 1990s and has won the J22 Midwinters, NAs, and Worlds.

So, I need your feedback/pre-registration via email response: 
(1) Are you committed to sailing your J22 in the July 13 rumble?
(2) Would you be willing to switch crews and have a guest skipper on your boat during the Rumble?
(3) Are you willing to have your J22 forestay measured and participate in a 2 hour chalk talk/Q&A on the evening of July 12?

There is no wrong answer.  If people are interested, we'll do it.  If everyone is out of town, we can talk about doing it in the future.  If no one likes the concept, let me know that too.  Minnetonka boats are absolutely welcome!  Please email me by July 3rd.  THANKS!
