Hello - 
I spent the afternoon with Sandy and brought her dinner yesterday (Sunday). The funeral is Friday - more details to come. Gene and Sandy absolutely love everyone from WYC, and Gene enjoyed all the sailors so much. Racing was always first and foremost with Gene, from early day Polaris and Yamaha Sled Racing to Yamaha Motor-Cross and his beloved Goat(s) - GTO, Gene has trophy's galore. 
A framed Burgee & Certificate of thanks of some kind would be perfect and Sandy would treasure this forever. For 15 years Gene has been an outstanding friend to WYC and he will be terribly missed.
You can email me directly with any questions or concerns. Please no flowers, or if you do outside/exterior types only (sandy is allergic).

This was my first year working with Gene. I learned quickly that he was an
integral part of our club. Is there something those of us who knew him may
want to do to honor him -- something that might be meaningful to his family?
For example: Make a contribution to the sailing school in honor of Gene and
make a certificate or plaque that goes to his family. Make a special trailer
trophy. Thoughts?

I too just saw him last month. Talked car racing. He also wanted to take the
racing/class/experience at BRI.  I thought I talked him into taking his son
or wife to Drive a Tank and Shoot Machine Guns. He was generous to Wowb and
the WYC auction.

Recently both he and sand lost there mothers, and now for Sandy to loose him
at such an early age is really tough. My prayers go out to her and family.
He will be missed
