<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">These last few weeks have been difficult for my brother and I as we try to adjust to the loss of our father.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Many of you may not know this but my brother and I are first generation Americans (i.e. first in our family to be born in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on">US</st1:country-region>), and do not have family in the <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">US</st1:place></st1:country-region>.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>We really don’t know either side of our families as they live thousands of miles away. <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><o:p></o:p></SPAN></DIV>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt"><o:p> </o:p></SPAN></DIV>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt">So when I received the numerous warm comforting and supportive emails, calls, cards and gifts from you, it humbled me immensely.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>You made me feel as though I have an extend family at WYC and words cannot express my great admiration and gratitude in knowing you.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>I am truly honored to be a member at WYC with such outstanding and caring sailors.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></DIV>

<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">It is with great regret that I share with you the news that CC's (Carmen E. Velarde) father, Edward M. Velarde passed away from a massive heart attack at 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening (September 22nd).</SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"> </SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">This was very much unexpected and the family is shocked by the news. His burial was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24th in <SPAN class=yiv359021739yshortcuts>La Paz, Bolivia</SPAN>; the place where her father is from. </SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"> </SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">CC and her brother, Jaime E. Velarde (lives in Minitrista, MN) are considering visiting their father's burial site sometime within the year.</SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt"> </SPAN></DIV>
<P class=yiv359021739msonormal><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: 'sans-serif'; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Some of you may have met Edward Velarde a few years ago when he visited WYC. CC's father was a very learned, witty and caring man. He was very proud of his children and supported them in all their accomplishments. CC's father was her last living parent and, her and her brother will miss him immensely. </SPAN></DIV>
