Here are a few highlights that may be important to you.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>J/22 MIDWINTERS<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal>1318 (Kurt, Boat Name: Turn Down for What) from WYC is already registered for Midwinters. Team 810 (Dyer, Boat Name: TBA) will be registering shortly. If any of the rest of you plan to go, get your registration in. You can register online <a href="https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registration_form.php?regatta_id=11404">https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registration_form.php?regatta_id=11404</a>. The regatta is March 18 – 20 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida—just under 1,400 miles away. Just checked this morning. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>2017 J/22 NAs<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal>Will be held at Buffalo Yacht Club. The dates are to be announced, possibly September. But there is an initiative to try and get big events schedule from June – August to encourage younger sailor participation. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>By the way, that was the only proposal entered. Food for thought if we want to put a bid in for 2018 NAs.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>J/22 Youth Scholarship / Free J/22 for the 2016 Season!<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal>Attached is information on a youth scholarship program. The winning team gets a free J/22 to use for the 2016 season. It would be great to see a team from Minnesota get the first year of this. Get the word out. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><b>College/Youth J/22 Sailor Features<o:p></o:p></b></p><p class=MsoNormal>The J/22 Class Association will be featuring youth J/22 sailors in the association newsletter, on their website and in social media. If anyone has sailed with a college/youth sailor on a J/22 that would be interested in being featured, let me know. I have a few in mind already. We’ll want a photograph of the sailor along with answers to a few questions (that I haven’t written yet). If there’s any interest in being featured, please let me know.
