A shout out to Fleet No 1:
It's been a hot and windy fall race schedule. We had a great summer with boats stepping it up as the season progressed, traveling folks hitting the road and a couple great cup races/series.
Congrats go to a few folks out there for the following successes:
* C Series
Motorhome has been sailing well through the C series and we will continue to chart their success over the next races.
* T Series
The master, JD, and his High Heels crew were once again on top of their game and tough to keep up with.
* A & B Series to a Minnetonka CHAMPS Cup
Dave Elsmo sailing with JD has shown that a J/24 can be sailed like a Dingy. Dave is one of the instructors at the Sailing School and has been sailing the A, B and C Series with John and crew. The High Heels Program has put together an impressive low points series one after another earning Dave a spot to represent the J/24 Fleet in the Champ of the Champs series where the 420's got handled well by the WYC Keel boaters (we are claiming Blake) for the top 4 places. Dave sailed to a 4th place finish - nice work.
* A Women's Series with a lot of competition.
Our lady racers proved that there is talent throughout the Fleet with three different WINNERS in three events:
o Stephanie Powell for Bubbles and earns the Island Event -Helming for the sprint around the Island
o Paige on Motorhome brings in the Bay Series -Helming in tight quarters
o Jane Hopkins Gould on VooDoo takes the Cup - Helming her zen way (on Buddha-VooDoo)
Congrats!!!
* District 15 Championship:
Motorhome and VooDoo were down in Wilmette at Sheridan Shores Yacht Club enjoying big water racing. Bernie had a great start to the regatta and was feeling right at home with the 16 other competitors. Voodoo was solidly in the top half of the fleet.
BTW - To all you old J/24 sailors... (Crazy) Ed from Orgasmictron (?), out of Kenosha/Racine area, says "Hi." He might see you all at U-Gotta.
* Burton Cup / MS Cup:
Terry Neff and the gang on Bubbles made It all looked incredibly easy this Saturday as winds whipped and spinnakers ripped!
Updates:
* 2010 U-Gotta, October 2 & 3, 2010.
We need some help for this event and would like folks to step up who are interested.
We hope to see several out of town boats and a couple folks that have been on the hard out playing with the regulars for this event.
* Championship Series Results Online corrected.
We had some difficulties with the scoring setup on the WYC website where the B Series was not scoring; a hold back from or 2009 scoring system. Our 2010 scoring includes the A, B and C Series and you all should be seeing corrected results as of now.
* Visit and contribute to the "funner" side of the sport
