                        Greetings J/24 Sailors,

Below is the latest update on J/24 sailing in the
USA. We've had some great events lately and we still have a few more
regattas left this year. We hope you get your boats out on the water and
enjoy the greatest one-design sailing around.
Remember, we need your input to keep this
information coming. If you have a newsworthy item, send it by email to
director at j24class.org and we'll get it out to all our sailors.
                        Smooth sailing,

                        USJCA Team

Qualification Deadline Extended for the 2012 J/24
Worlds
You Don't Want to Miss This One!

The J/24 Class World Council has recently voted to
extend the deadline for qualification for the 2012 World Championship until
March 31, 2012.

Due to this change, regattas such as the 2012
Midwinters or the Regatta Copa Mexico will count toward your participation
requirement and allow you to enter the World Championship next September in
Rochester, New York.

Here's what you now need to do in order to enter the
Worlds:

                        1. Be a fully paid member of the J/24 Class in 2011.
Obviously, you will also need to be a paid class member in 2012 as well.

                        2. Compete in at least one J/24 Class sanctioned
district, regional, national or continental level event ending before March
31, 2012.

Odenbach Tops Fleet at Changing of the Colors
Regatta

Current North American Champion, Travis Odenbach,
won the 2011 Changing of the Colors regatta by only one point over David Van
Cleef. Hosted by the Lake George Club in upstate New York, the event is one
of the premier regatta on the U.S. racing calendar and this year attracted
65 boats.

Conditions were challenging for the competitors with
25+ knot winds limiting the fleet to only one race on Saturday before the
committee chose to send the sailors back to the club. Sunday's racing was
much more accommodating with 18 knot winds allowing for two more races to be
completed.

As is typical for this regatta, most of the
competitors have already pre-registered for next year's regatta. The local
hosts put on quite a show so you should mark this one on your calendar for
the future.

                        2012 Regata Copa México

The Mexican J/24 Class is hosting another big
regatta in March, 2012. The second addition of the Regata Copa México will
be held at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. There are
already 45 boats signed up, so this will definitely be another big regatta.

By all accounts, the 2010 version was a fantastic
event with giant parties every night. Could be a fun trip south of the
border for anyone interested.

This regatta is sponsored in part by the Mexican
government and transportation and accommodation supplements are available to
offset the cost of attending.
