Hi all,

 

I sent all 27 people who had signed up online and paid for the on the water
training the email below.  If there are 1 or 2 experienced racers who would
like to go out in the crazy conditions and somebody from one of the fleets
wants to take them, I don't have a problem with that. However Ernie and I do
not think we put the brand-new people on the water in the cold at these wind
velocities, and so, we're going to try to make it a good event for them and
need some help with the schedule below and schmoozing our guests so they
take away a good feeling about the WYC and the event they paid money for.

Hi WYC Guests Who Signed up for the Seminar Tomorrow,

 

Tomorrow is going to be quite chilly and may have wind velocities of 25 to
40 mph. That is probably not suitable to go on the water for your 1st
sailboat racing experience. So we have planned some different special parts
of the event (see the schedule below) that will help you to prepare for
crewing sailboat races.  Terry Foster of the WYC was many time champion both
of the WYC and nationally is going to give a talk on "How to Be a Sailboat
Racing Crew". I'm good to talk about stuff that will be of interest to you
at the yacht club so you can more smoothly integrate your program of
becoming a sailboat racing sailor. Work and have the nice grilled lunch with
beer and wine, and hope to help you get integrated into the WYC.

8 AM to 8:45 AM:   Have the regular Continental breakfast.

8:45 AM to 9:15 or 9:30: Bert will talk about sailboat racing, the drills,
and the WYC.

9:45-10:45 -11:00:  Terry Foster will give a 60 to 90 minute program on "How
to Be a Sailboat Racing Crew" directed at new people.
11:00-11:30:  We go outside or inside and Ernie will teach "How to Pack a
Spinnaker".  

11:30-12:00:  We serve a fresh grilled lunch at  with beer and wine.  Steve
has done an outstanding job on this for years.
