[Phrf] 2008 PHRF Information

Hello fellow PHRF sailors.
 
Believe it or not, the ice is almost gone on Wayzata Bay! And, by now those of you that have already paid your WYC dues should have received the official WYC race schedule and the all important parking stickers.
 
I have several messages that I would like to communicate.
 
1) On March 14th we held the annual PHRF Fleet meeting at the WYC Clubhouse (see the attached minutes - thanks Chuck)
2) At the meeting, the following Officers were elected:
    
Commodore - Peter Sussman
PHRF I Fleet Captain  -  Dave Johnson
PHRF II Fleet Captain  - Karen Hetland
Secretary / Treasurer  - Chuck Ulmer
 
3) Last Saturday both Karen and I attended the annual Fleet Captain's Meeting and several important points were communicated to us that you should know:
    a) The new courses that we sailed last year will be continued but some have been renamed - instead of "Z" courses, we now have "L" or "R" courses
    b) Attendance points will only be given within 24 hours of the race - make sure you check the web site if you you have any doubts
    c) Any person crewing on your boat three or more times during the season must have a  paid WYC Crew Membership
    d) Please do not park in front of the neighbors houses, use the lots
    e) Our request for longer PHRF I races on windy days will be given to the race committee
    f) You need to have your WYC membership paid in full a minimum of ONE WEEK prior to the first race you want to be counted in
 
After the Fleet Captain's meeting, Bob Bye and I went through an introduction to managing the new PHRF web site with Dallas. While the new site management software is robust, there is a bit of a learning curve so please be patient.
 
Also, if you have not already submitted your 2008 PHRF form and paid your PHRF membership dues, now is the time. You will not be scored without them!
