Subject: [External] [Phrf] WYC fleet captains meeting notes

Hey PHRFers!

The WYC Fleet Captains meeting was tonight, and I bet you can guess what the big topic was. Here is overview of the discussion.

First, the BOD and several committees are working VERY HARD at getting us back on the water in a responsible way. It is important to remember that as a club, we are very exposed to the public, the city, and water patrol as they evaluate our actions, and how it effects our ability to race. So please keep that in mind.

That being said, they are trying to get the marina opened ASAP, and the crane as soon as possible as well. Remember that the crane and pole cannot be used until inspected and OKed, even if the marine is open. Stay tuned to emails, and don't do anything before it's allowed. Important.

Social distance WILL BE KEY for probably the bulk of the summer. On the shore, on the docks, and on the water. Expect that you will only be allowed to sail with household members until further notice. Do to our exposure, you will really not want to test this.

WYC racing will abandoned as the races approach, much like the late spring 2 years ago. Expect more details on the shortened season to come as we enter the season.

While on the water, remember to maintain distance from other boats, as much from a social distancing perspective as from appearance from the shore. What seems far for a racer on a boat looks like near miss to a patron at Cov.

ON TO RACING!
Once we do get cranked up, some fun changes.

  1.
Thursdays will be all dual starting lines if possible. And 2 VHF channels. Downside, PHRF fleets slide down a starting spot due to the J70s breaking off and starting first. I've already expressed our collective displeasure to the powers that be about that.
  2.

  3.
On Sundays RRS 30.1 (I flag) will NOT be flown, allowing a boat that is OCS 1 minute before the start to come back fully below the line before the gun without having to round an end. The so-called 'dip start'. This is being done to allow the less crowded weekend races to start like most regattas, which allows better training for traveling boats.
  4.

I can't wait to see everyone on the water. Be cool, wait for the high-sign, and we'll be there soon!
