There were two race offices that were out on the main lake from 12:45ish watching the wind. Unlike on Thursday where we always go out, Sundays we do have the option to postpone on shore. We will send the boats out if it looks likely,
but the main lake was completely calm. Around 2:30 there was some wind on the main lake. At that time there was wind hovering around the minimum requirements but hadn’t settled into a stable direction.

Yesterday was scheduled to be a BOGO. The forecast predicted it would pick up to a light, yet raceable windspeed (5 to 6 mph), around 2 to 3 pm. While there was an onshore postponement, a few boats went out on the lake yesterday during
postponement. In copy a couple of people that were on two of the other boats yesterday. Perhaps they can provide their insight.

While we were waiting, the wind started to pick up. We put the motor away and rigged. The race committee started taking participation credits inside the club only. I asked if the boats on the lake could call in for participation credits
over the radio and received no reply. Then the wind filled in on the main lake. After we observed what we felt were sustained raceable wind speeds across the main lake for some time, Dusty let us know that the PRO abandoned races.

We thought that the wind direction was relatively steady and the wind speed was raceable. One of the boats onshore commented that he noticed the wind filling in the bay and thought it was isolated to the bay. I had a very accomplished sailor
on board from out of state to work on our light-air game. He was really surprised about the onshore postponement and the lack of a race.

Did the race committee members and other boats that were on the main lake feel that conditions would have sustained a race? Was part of the decision to abandon races because people were onshore? Does it make sense to bring boats out on
Sunday, like we do on Thursday, and postpone on the water?
