[S2] Fiddler's Green

This news has been circulating to the J22 list, but it just occurred to me that perhaps others have not heard the sad news.

Gene Hormann, owner of Gene's Storage in Glencoe, passed away unexpectedly on Friday of a heart attack.  Many WYC and MYC members stored their boats at Gene's farm, and he always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a handshake.  He pulled the boat out of the barn when he knew you were coming and always offered to help secure the hitch and make sure the trailer lights were working.  He loved the yacht clubs and the sailors.  He always supported our silent auctions with donations, and even offered to store a couple of sailing school boats for no charge a few years ago.

Gene's wife, Sandy Hormann, plans to continue the storage business.  If you are a customer, you will receive a letter from Sandy when things calm down a bit.

The funeral will be this Friday at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 925 13th Street East, Glencoe.  Visitation 2 hours prior.  No flowers as Sandy is very allergic.  The family has not specified a charity for memorials, but a gift to Wayzata Community Sailing Center Capital Campaign in Gene's memory would be a fitting gift.  Bert is working on a nice tribute to present to Sandy from the yacht club, probably a burgee in a frame with a certificate of appreciation, which was suggested by some members of the J22 fleet.

A good friend has gone to Fiddler's Green.
