Subject: US Sailing Needs your help Spreading the word U.S. Offshore Championship Applications Now Open

Hello Regional Sailing Associations,

U.S. Sailing is asking for your help in spreading the word...

Applications are currently being accepted for the Lloyd Phoenix U.S. Offshore Championship to be held at U.S. Naval Academy Sailing Squadron, Annapolis, MD, September 21-24, 2017. A maximum of nine teams will be invited.

We are looking for teams from across the USA to vie for the national title of U.S, Offshore Champion in provided Navy 44 MK II sloops. Each team shall consist of a crew of eight including one skipper and six crew members plus one U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman provided from the varsity offshore racing team. There is no weight limit for the event. A minimum of five sailors on each team must have raced together (including the designated skipper) in at least five regattas in ORC, PHRF, Offshore One Design, Offshore Level Class Racing or Portsmouth Numbers rating systems in the past 18 months. It’s the perfect opportunity for your local hot shot J-24 team, PHRF fleet champions or other “big boat” sailors to get out and represent your area of the country.

The entry fee includes:

  * The use of the Navy 44
  * Continental breakfast each day for the team
  *   Opening and closing receptions
  *   All post-race socials.
  * Mandatory practice on Thursday afternoon with racing on Friday to Sunday.

Racing includes at least three round the buoy races plus both a medium and long distance race.

Please direct your team(s) to our event website below.

The application deadline has been extended to July 15, 2017
