[Sonar] Some thoughts from the party

You bring up a good point. However, since we are talking about one-design,
you will have to do it in a Sonar. Maybe once we have experimented in the
Sonar Fleet we can propose it to the whole YC and put it on the schedule.
Still, Austi and Avi might find they can work their way onto a Sonar.
They'll probably enjoy it more.

First, thanks to Cheryl and Chuck for hosting a great party.

I was pleased to see that children were included and, more important, all
the children were so well behaved. This got me on a thought process. Many
of our fleet families, owners and crew, have children or grandchildren in
the Sailing School. The list that comes to mind is:

Jeff Harris - Micah and Evan
Bert Foster - Sarah and Maria Rassouli and Trenton Lee
Howard and Jill Noreen - Kaitlyn and Sophia
John and Liz Sligh - Maddy and Annie(?)
  Chris Fittipaldi - Annie
  Dave Olson - Marie
Mark Kochendorfer - Logan and Lars
Allan and Kris Green - Evan (if he isn't he should be)

There may be more. Anyway, how about if we designate a race where it is
required that a Sailing School student be at the helm? We could use a Big
Island race like we do the Lonar. As you look at the list, you can see
there are multiples to several boats so there is the opportunity for a
childless (childfree to be more PC) boat to take one on. Obviously we would
have adults on board to give guidance, provide for safety, and prevent
crunches. Proposed name - the Schonar. Any thoughts?

Several knowledgable women said that the Sonar Men's Chorus sounded good.
I think the Sonars (men and women) could entertain the WYC fleet with sea
chanties on windless days while we're waiting around for the wind to arrive
or the 3 guns. I will provide words, music, and recordings for the event
with enough time for everyone to learn the words and music. Vern Sutton
look out!

Let's keep the Sonar beefcake calendar idea going. Talk to CC if you have
studs you think should be included.

It's wonderful to see what a cohesive and supportive group we have.

  Ernest
