[Sonar] Lowisa - Average Points?

I think the idea of average points was,  in this instance, to not have boat owners penalized for going to LOWISA.   (or other offsite regatta's that mean WYC race absence)

This was discussed early on in the season and Bert had brought it up at a Sonar gathering that we had last February but not sure if it was actually voted on by the fleet.    I thought at the time that this was a WYC level decision since LOWISA involves more than Sonar boats.    This year we had WYC representation from the Sonar,  Capri,  PHRF II  and J22 fleets.

It really doesn't matter to me one way or another... Seems from a logic point of view average points gives credit for being in two places at the same time... Nice trick.. I could use that concept in other parts of my mixed up life...

It really comes down to the rankings...which as John stated is what the throw outs are good for.. Seems like this opens up things to a lot of subjective interpretation...which is always trouble.. Rules agreed upon and voted on BEFORE the season begins is the best place to start...

but again... no matter to me.

I don't disagree with the concept of average points for sanctioned events. 
However, this should have been voted on prior to the season starting and
agreed upon as a fleet.  I missed the fleet meeting before the season
started but it sounds like there was no vote.  In that case in my opinion
you should use your throw out rather than rely on average points.

As a fleet we need well defined rules regarding average points so we don't
have to go through this next year.  Let's put in on the agenda for the next
fleet meeting.
