Fellow Sonarians,

Reporting on the agenda at the recent fleet captain meeting.

Along with easier and more affordable dual membership between WYC and MYC, there is also a system starting up to encourage cross participation. A program with "crew credentials" is being assembled. Skippers will be able to review a list of crew attributes and send a text request! Pretty Cool!

The Brian Hayes event has been rescheduled for May 17, 18 and 19th.

Just a review, that the Rumble in the Bay series will count as one participation point for the day, not one for each race. Earnie would like to know how the Sonar fleet would like these scored? As part of a series or separate? Regatta scoring A2.4 versus A9 fleet/club racing? In our meeting we decided only the following…
Motion: The Champ series race that would normally be held that day will not be scored. The motion carried.
Motion: The rumble would count toward Boat of the Year, as 1 race using the placing for the whole regatta as if it were the score for 1 race. (This is subject to change as it may not be possible in the scoring system). The motion carried

WYC is ahead of the game in recognizing women skippers, and we want to be even better. It is requested that if you are a woman and you skip a women's series race (Big Island, Bay Series or Bouey Series), please let the race committee know immediately after the race. They will record it and recognize the participation at the banquet.

If you do not pay your $30 fleet dues a week before the first race, you will not notice your boat scored. Please pay Howard asap. Don't make him hunt you down :)

Interested in getting on the water soon?! The Spring On-the-Water Crew Training event has lots of crew already signed up to participate this year. Please let Ernie know if you can skip those dates and sail with potential new members!

Also- a friendly reminder about hull to hull contact with damage – just in case! You must file a protest so that insurance claims can be filed and accepted. It does not have to mean that the two parties don't also have a gentleman's agreement, but insurance requires documentation.

Still counting down to "ice out!"
Cheers!
Sarah
