Hi Everyone,

It's getting close, and I've been making plans, but running a bit behind as usual!

The Star of the North Regatta will be a bit different this year. It will be a 2-day regatta, September 6 & 7.

The same 3 fleets as always are invited to participate.

Changes are for this year only, and are based on discussions I had last fall with several Capri sailors. Our Capri 25 fleet is hosting the Capri25/Catalina250 National Championships at WYC on the following weekend. The people I talked to wanted to:

* Have the Star of the North the weekend before their Nationals so they could use it as a "tune-up".

* Have a 2-day SoTN, so Capri sailors would not have to take off work 2 Fridays in a row.

* Have a less expensive registration fee, so the Capri boat owners don't skip the SoTN due to cost.

I have been working to satisfy all of these requests. I am working on the NOR which will be posted soon. I am also working on tee shirts, and hope you will like them.

We will have Mount Gay Rum and red hats. We will have live music on Saturday night, combining the dinner and party with the Night Crawler. Mike Jagielski has agreed to make Paella. Night Crawler tickets will be available to purchase online (soon) for $10. Only $10 for Paella, rum bar and live music. Everyone attending will need to buy a ticket. There will be NO dinner tickets included with SoTN registration.

We will also have a raffle, and any prizes you can obtain will be greatly appreciated.

So, watch for an announcement soon about registration, shirts and NOR all being available online.

On a final note (I hope you read this far), I have put my heart and soul into the Star of the North Regatta since 2009 (we did not have it in 2011). This will be my fifth year, and it's time to pass the baton. If anyone is interested in being the new chairperson, let me know, and you can tag along this year.

Sail fast,
Carmella
