Hi Chris,

It would be great to have the other 2 boats and fun to have Steve Wells and Jim Fogg's teams come to the WYC. I might even have to be Fogg man at golf on Monday.

Regards,

Bert

Steve Wells was talking about coming down with a Sonar as was Jim Fogg. We might have 3 Canadian boats.

Hi Chris,

So happy you're coming to Star of the North. Looks like it should be a good regatta. It is been cut down to 2 days this year instead of the traditional 3 due to WYC holding the capris/Catalina national championship regatta the following weekend, and it will be a 3 day regatta, so, many of the sailors want fewer days off work, making finding crew easier.

Need the Crane on Friday
I'm copying Steve Bren, WYC manager (C 612–701–3230), as he is primarily in charge of the Crane and can arrange what you need. I'm also copying JR and Ernie, as they are Crane experts. I am asking all 3 of them email you their availability on Friday afternoon to help you with the Crane. They can give you their cell phone numbers so that when you're 2 or 3 hours away you can give them a heads up call with an ETA.

Velocitek
I personally do not see a problem with your putting a piece of tape over the velocity indicator on the device. The Sonar Class Association rules do not approve of an electronic speed device but the more recently have approved of an electronic compass device. I personally think they should allow the speed device as it would make all of us better sailors to learn how to trim sails to the Optimum VMG.

Regards,

Bert

Hi guys we are coming down for SON again this year. We are planning on leaving Winnipeg early Friday AM so we will arrive in the cities Friday afternoon. I suspect Jim will be on the same schedule. We have arranged to stay with JR again. We should have our registration in today or tomorrow.

A couple of questions.

1) will there be someone around to unlock / power up the crane on Friday afternoon?

2) We use a Velocitek which has speed and heading. Are we OK to tape over the speed and just use heading? Otherwise we need to source a compass.

3) Is it OK if I don’t have my current CYA card, we are all paid up but our club did not distribute our CYA cards this year. Jim is probably in the same situation.

See you soon
