[Sonar] Point of Discussion: Sanctioning the Star of the North

Hey everyone!

The Sonar Class Association would like us to apply for sanctioning for the Star of the North.  It was decided at the meeting to put this out to the whole fleet to discuss.

Some things that came up at the meeting:

What does this get us?
Exposure, and the chance to get more big Sonar events at WYC.
A reason for other boats from other yacht clubs to come here and see what a fabulous yacht club WYC is.
Will raise the level of competition at WYC.

What other requirements are there?

1.       We (owners) would be bound by the various rules and regulations

a.       Person in Charge must be a Sonar Class Association Member ($50)

b.      Boat must have a valid measurement certificate

2.       The regatta must follow certain rules

a.       Low scoring System

b.      Minimum 3 races

c.       Minimum of 6 races before a throw-out is awarded

d.      SCA has to approve SI/NOR/PRO

We'll give this a couple of weeks or so, and call a vote when it seems we've got it all talked out.
