Weather in Miami is great. Boat is doing well. First day got a bullet (maybe that's not the best expression for Miami).

Through a contact of Marty's I've been able to locate an opportunity for some team style Sonar racing in Houston, TX (Galveston Bay) the first week of April.

Houston YC has a fleet of 14 Sonars. They are inviting several clubs down to form teams for this event. Boats would be provided. In turn, they would come up here for a team related event in the late summer, early fall...perhaps coinciding with the Capri National event if we decide to do something with that well organized event. We would provide boats similar to what we did with the Canadian's when they came down in 2005.

If we can get at least two teams together, 6 total, I would be willing to get things together for a van that would go down with crew and sails. Marty has the scoop on the team racing format, much of which I was unfamiliar with. If it comes together well, we could even invite the Kansas City fleet (6 Sonars) in on it as long as we're driving through there.

For the Florida NOOD's and Midwinter's in Miami/St. Pete, there is one boat left to charter. The charter cost would be approximately $2000 and would not include necessary transport back from Miami to St. Pete (if the midwinter regatta is included). My guess is that the total cost for the boat would be in the neighborhood of $2400. I'm afraid that with other things going on that I cannot do it this year.

Shaina (my daughter) was in a Corsair 31 delivery to Key West this week with Billy Laughlin and his brother John. When they were doing 25+ knots down a wave front not far from Miami, they sheared the rudder right off the underside of the boat. They motored into Miami. Another Corsair dismasted and another went turtle. Losing a rudder isn't so bad.

By the way, great party last Saturday. Thanks to the Bangasser's for putting up with us. The scuttlebutt is that we've been invited to invade the Sligh house next month.

Thomas Brown
"Maximizing Business by Minimizing Surprises"
