October 6-7, 2012

The University of Minnesota Sailing Team (UMST) qualified two sailors for the ICSA Singlehand Nationals (sailed in lasers) this November in Long Beach, California. The qualifier was held on Lake Michigan by Northwestern University. Chris Loew-Bloesser (SR) will be sailing a Standard rig in the men’s fleet and Alison Kent (FR) will be sailing a Radial rig in the women’s fleet.

The Wayzata High School sailing team qualified for the Great Oaks National Championship this November in New Orleans, Louisiana. The qualifier was held on Lake Michigan at the Chicago Yacht Club, Belmont Station. Three sailors will be competing: Sean Burke (SR), Mary Mueffelmann (FR) and Mairead Kennedy (JR).

October 13-14, 2012

Two UMST women’s teams travelled to Madison, WI to compete in the Wisconsin Women’s regatta hosted by the University of Wisconsin. After a grueling weekend of cold, rainy and windy conditions, UMST came out on top with the two teams placing 1st and 3rd overall. UW Madison’s A team placed 2nd overall.

WCSC hosted the annual Fall Colors High School Intersectional Regatta. There were 23 teams in attendance (about 100 sailors)from across the midwest for the two-fleet event. WCSC sailors made up 8 of the total teams, giving the sailing center a strong representation.
