Lynne and Eric,

Dallas is correct. Craig A. is correct, if he is talking about $50-$75 PER
PERSON times 4 to 6. I have contributed Rockit numerous times over the
years to various fund-raisers. It always brings $300 to $400. Maybe in this
economic climate, the bids may be on the low end of that range, but I would
still expect $300 for a boat, skipper and crew plus refreshments and snacks.
I would avoid Maynards, do a 2 hour sail and then picnic under the tree in
front of the club-house. That will be a highlight of most people's Summer,
especially if you pop the chute for an exciting downwind run. And don't ever
let the boat heel more than 10-15 degrees. Rockitman

Hi Capri Sailors,

Hope everyone is finding fun things to do to fill your time over the winter.

I have a question for all of you. If you had to put a value on on a sailing
excursion from WYC to Maynards, or maybe just around the lake for a couple
of hours, what do you think the value would be? Our son's school is having
their annual fundraiser and they are asking for donations of unique
experiences or services for the silent and live auction. We thought we
could donate a Saturday sail but I'm not sure what I should put as the
value. Any input?

Thanks,
Lynne and Eric Roubal

Lynne,

I've donated Capri25 and J22 keel boat cruises to the First Unitarian
Society, including refreshments (wine and cheese) and crew (2 experienced
sailors).

I promote these with "sit back and take in the lifestyle of the rich and
famous, or grab the tiller and sail the boat yourself." I think I suggested
$50 to $75. Maynards is an option, but that would be an additional cost.
Folks usually prefer to see the lake homes with some local history or
sailing yarns thrown in for good measure. Part of the reward is meeting new
folks with an interest in sailing.

-Craig A.

Whoa, Craggie,

Maybe $50 to $75 with you singing. But otherwise it's easily in the $300-400
range.

Any boat charter on Mtka is going to be $100 per hour, plus a skipper, plus
food to up the donation amount means you can hit $500 in bidding pretty
easy. While it's no big deal to us, it's a summer highlight for many
people.

Much of it depends on the expectations of the silent auction and what's a
normal big donation for that event.

Keep in mind that the Mtka charters are in large vessels that are dishing
out a ton of gas not mention catering service.? Unless I am mistaken we are
talking about a Carpi here.? Not to mention you are dealing with parents who
dish out quite a bit as it is during a recession.?
?
I suggested to start the bidding low at $20.00 (or maybe even $30.00)?with
the likelihood that it will reach $50.00 if not more.? You have to take into
the "quality" of the ride ( no offense Lynne) and your market/audience.?
?
Now of course if Lynne includes Craiggae singing then of course you will
have to start the bidding at $10.00.? We still luv ya buddy.
?

Great Idea, you might want to be careful though. Technically if a person
pays for a ride on a boat there is supposed to be a licenced captain aboard.
