[Capri25] Water in the bilge

John,

the lowest point of the boat is next to the keel. We used to get all the crew at the stern and have one person bail. Then we took out the wood floor and drilled two access holes. There are 2 blind sumps / bilge's in all Capri's. Consensus drilled 2 holes, one on each side of the keel with a hole saw. Under the cabin sole there is an air gap, a layer of plywood and another air gap. You need to drill through to the second air gap. The two holes also helps with air flow to help keep it dry. attached is the drawing from Catalina.

Hope this helps,

Dan

I've thought of cutting a hole in the ice chest area to allow pumping and there is already a smallish hole in the sump. Any and all ideas welcomed. Thanks. John Todd
