[J22-Fleet 1] Invitation to: Bob Slocum Memorial Family Fun Regatta and Picnic, Saturday, June 15

Hello WYC Sailors,

 

June 15 is the WYC Bob Slocum Memorial Family Fun Regatta and Picnic. We
want you to bring your boat, and your children or neighbor's children or
nieces and nephews or an associate from work with their children!  Here's
why:

.         Great fun day for the kids with magician, lawn games, face
painting etc. 

.         Great kids' food: hot dogs, pop, fancy ice cream sundae bar.

.         Kids and novices have an opportunity to see what racing is like.

.         You help us honor sailor Bob Slocum who passed away this year.



Here's how: 

.         Bring your boat. If you don't have kids or novice sailor friends,
figure on picking up a few at the club.  We are inviting the world and want
your boat.

.         Meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at Wayzata Yacht Club for
registration. 

.         Bring lifejackets. We've let participants know that every kid
needs one, but bring extras if you have them. 

.         There is a voluntary $5/person donation to WCSC.  Everything else
is free! 

.         We'll have a short race (under 45-minutes) in Wayzata Bay!

.         Depending on weather and number of participants, we'll provide a
race/boat ride experience for everyone until lunchtime.

.         About noon we'll come in for a grilled lunch (hot dogs & burgers),
beverages, games, trophies and the Ice Cream Sundae Bar

.         Every kid who participates receives an engraved Ice Cream Sundae
Spoon! 

.         Festivities wind down at nap time.

How to help out:

.         There's no "early registration," but it will be a big help if you
can let  <mailto:heatherf at pcspeed.com> Heather Fraser know you're
interested! We want to assure every kid a spot.

.         Boats, wind and kids can make for a very "fluid" situation. As you
can imagine, we'll take as much help as we can get. Call Heather Fraser,
612-715-0054.

 

Bob Slocum was twice Commodore of the WYC, an avid sailor, mentor of the
women's team, and wonderful grandfather to his many small grandchildren. We
know he'd be pleased to see a fun and well-attended event in his name!
