[J22-Fleet 1] 2013 J22 Worlds

Hi all,
For those that have not been following the Facebook postings of last weeks J22 Worlds in Newport, RI, thought I would share the results below.

Sail Newport was a wonderful venue for the regatta and many of us had never sailed there before. The RC worked very hard and we finished 10 races out of 13 scheduled over 5 days. Most races were held on the ocean course in 4-15 knots. A few were on the bay course in 5-17 knots. There were 5 teams from WYC which in itself was awesome. All 5 finished in the top half of the 71 boat fleet. We all had at least one top ten finish.

Lars, Jon and Rod took top honors of WYC with a 10. There results included 3 top 3 finishes among previous World Champions. They also won the 3 race mini legends regatta!
Mike Schmid driving en fuego in his first national event with Andy and myself finished 17.
Kurt, Jeff, Uta and Angela battled to the end to tie for 18 with long time J22 pro Terry Flynn. The lost the tiebreaker to finish with a 19.
Jappa, Kevin and Matt with a Z flag penalty in race 4 finished 31
John Peterson, Nils, Michelle and Kristin, sailing Oranje for the first time this year finished with a 33. They actually port tack tacked the fleet from the pin end in race 5!
