[J22-Fleet 1] Fwd: Fw: [Fleets] Adding a Random Course Fleet On the Thursday Nights When We Have Bumper Boats in Wayzata Bay

Hi J 22 sailors,

There never was any intent to not have the full level of Wayzata Bay M series races. The only question was should we add a random course race out in the main Lake for those sailors who do not like to race in the Bay in the M-series. I personally think it won't affect J 22's, J 24's, Sonars very much if it all.

Regards,

Bert

Team 810 agrees with the other comments: let's stay in the bay.

If you read below, Bert has a concept for an alternative to the bay series. Would more of you come out to sail on Thursdays at the end of the season if this type of alternative choose were offered?

Personally, I'd rather keep all of us (j22) together on one starting line. But if some of the phrf boats wanted to vacate the bay, that might leave more room for us;)

Hi All,

I attended the S2 7.9 fleet meeting where it was suggested that we insert an Optional Random Course Fleet Race for those who do not want to sail bumper boats in the Bay. All boats, handicap-scored. All PHRF. Single start. Random course. The idea is to get participation from those who don't normally do the W/L racing in the Bay, due to such crowded courses.

The start and finish could be south of spirit island (to stay out of the channel), or partway up the Northhome shore. We would not sail around big island due to the milfoil this time of year and to keep the race fairly short due to sunset. Therefore, one or 2 boys could be placed various spots on the Lake and the finish would be where you started so that you could easily get to the WYC before sunset.

What do you think?

Regards,

Bert
