Hello my PHRF 1 and 2 peeps! Josh Garvin here, your friendly PHRF2 captain. I talked to several of you last weekend, but here is the official announcement: We will have an exhibition race this Thursday, 9/22! The reason for this is simply because we missed a couple races due to lack of/too much wind, and well, basically, we just hate to see this season end so soon!

Anyhow, this is completely unofficial and un-credited, and will just be for fun. But we are the FUN FLEET, right? There is supposed to be some rain in the next day or so, but it LOOKS like it will clear up by thursday afternoon. And there will be some good wind! So it's happening. Here's how it will work:

1. I will set up two buoys (orange Home Depot buckets) in the bay. I will do my best to make them up/down wind, but it won't be perfect and we will just deal with it.

2. I will call the race course over CHANNEL 69 (not 68, on the off-chance the RC is doing something) Thank you, Peter, for your restraint on commenting on this choice of channel...

3. The race countdown will START at 5:30. Set your timers for 6 minutes--we will have a Prep at 3 minutes, and then the GO at six! One start! I will determine the course, depending on conditions, and announce it before the race of course. I will call all this over the radio.

4. The start line is the down-wind buoy, and 90 degrees out from it (to the upwind buoy). Keep all buoys to port as always.

5. Since we have no RC timing us, it will be first-over-the-line wins! (this really sucks for my slow-ass boat, but oh well!!)

6. If you are over the line early, foul someone, or do anything naughty, just do your spins or whatever is required--honor system! There is no RC to officiate!

OK! Sound fun?!?!? It will be! I still have a fair amount of beer from the last PHRF social, and I will bring that for after the race, but feel free to bring beverages to contribute. (the kegs will likely be off, and a lack of post-race alcohol would make us very grumpy....)

Whoever can make it, come on! Fun times ahead! Let me know if I missed anything, but otherwise, see you Thursday!

Josh

Post Scriptum: My phone died, so don't bother texting me! Email is my only communication method for a while....
