The following is from the Sonar Class VP…

Sonarians,

As we all know the Sonar world championships are being hosted by Rochester Y.C. September 18-22. The Rochester Yacht Club is very proud to and very well prepared to hold the 2013 Sonar World Championship. After hosting the Sonar N.A.'s as well as the J-24 World Championship last season, the RYC and its members are primed for another successful event. Wayne Bretsch, who received ultimate kudos for his work at our N.A.'s last year has agreed to be PRO for our 2013 Worlds.

Now with the organization of the day time racing program under control we have turned our organizational skills to the development of the evening program. Mt Gay has agreed to sponsor a rum night Friday night and we have hired a small steel drum band for the night to highlight the event. All we need is a cool bar at which they can serve the rum and wouldn't you just know it some of the class's more serious party goer's are working on that Rum Bar as we speak. The first ever Sonar Rum Bar is under construction in a neighborhood shop. Wait to you see it.

Welcome reception and Competitors Meeting is Wednesday evening. Thursday evening and Saturday evening dinners are included in your reservation.

The time to start planning is now. Get you team together. The regatta is obviously Wednesday to Sunday so get time off from work. Register for the regatta, your registration fee is refundable if your plans change. Book your hotel. Blocks of rooms, at a reduced rate, but you must identify yourself as part of the Sonar worlds, have been reserved at the following two motels. Both are 6 to 7 miles from the club....

Rochester Marriott Airport Hotel ($129.00)
1890 West Ridge Rd., Rochester NY 4615
585 248 8640

Holiday Inn Express Rochester-Greece ($104.00)
1635 W.RidgeRd. Rochester NY 14615
585.663.8400

This is going to be a great event. The class has commitments from teams in the UK, Canada, and New Zealand. We would like to have you there as well. Please give it serious consideration.
