[Sonar] Sonar Fleet Meeting Agenda Item: Start Time for Rumbles and Sunday morning racing in August

Hi All,

 

1.    Think about when to start the rumbles, 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 AM, 1 AM, 2
AM,. The Board of Directors wants no rumble race to start after 3 o'clock.

2.    Note that we will be racing on Sunday morning in August per an
agreement we made with the MYC as an experiment to see if we can improve
turnout, and how important was it to race on Sunday morning without the
motor boat chop.

3.    We have been working on the fleet special rules for a number of years
and have never developed them in writing and have them formally take place
on the website. It hasn't seemed to been terribly important, but Ken  will
be working on them, and if we can come up with a comprehensive set of rules
we can submit them to the race committee for review and get them on the
website.

Happy Spring, Sonars!

 

We will be having a fleet meeting this spring before sailing  begins.  Save
the date Friday, April 4th from 7-8pm at the Wayzata Yacht Club.

 

We will be following the agenda that follows in order to conduct the meeting
in an efficient manner.   If you have something you'd like included in the
meeting please email me ahead of time so we may include your topic.
Anything not included on the agenda will have to be addressed at a later
date.  If people would like to socialize after the meeting is adjourned,
that would be great!

7:15-National Sonar Points of Interest:

National Sonar fleet website 

The 2014 Sonar North American Championships are being hosted by Lunenburg
Yachr Club located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. The event will take place on
August 6-10, just one week before the IFDS Worlds in Halifax.

There is a website being constructed to link Sonar fleets across the nation.
More info as it becomes available.

7:55-Sonar Fleet 5 Growth Opportunities , inviting in the local youth who
sail the Sonar in a great variety of nation events.

Traditional members and fleet racing

Youth members/team racing, Chubb US Junior Sailing Championship qualifier
and championship, and Sonar Team Race North Americans

Match racing, Local sailors participate in Richardson Cup, Rochester, NY and
the Stoltz Cup in Toronto.
