Hey everyone,

Here are a few notes from the Captains Meeting:

1. Make sure you pay your club and fleet dues. You won't get scored if your dues aren't paid.

2. If you have a scoring issue, you fix it by filing a protest form as explained in the SI's (17.5) This is a change (you used to ask your fleet captain, and he would chase it down). Do it AS SOON AS YOU NOTICE IT! Asking about it at the end of the series or season probably won't turn out so well...

3. We had a record number of protests last year, so penalties for fouls have been changed. Look at Section 16 of the SIs, but the short version is as follows

a. Penalty is one turn except at the start and in the zone around a mark

b. If you go to arbitration, losing means a 40% loss of position (used to be 20%)

c. If you go to a protest hearing, losing means a loss of 40%, and if its determined that the foul was to gain an advantage, it will mean a disqualification which can't be discarded.

See you on the water!

Ken
