- Sailboat Evening Parade
------------------------------

MWST NEWS-TONIGHT
Randi Kay of WCCO Channel 4 News was out with the MWST last week doing a big
story on their Rolex preparation and all the other good things they do. The
story will air this evening at 5:00pm and Wednesday morning during the
5am-7-am show. My recommendation is that you watch the 5:00pm show in 30
minutes because sailors just don't do 5-7am.

SAILBOAT EVENING PARADE
Rasta Bob is at it again helping to organize a lighted boat parade to
celebrate the 150th birthday party of Excelsior. The date is August 18th, so
you've got just enough time to sign up and decorate your boat. Check out the
details at http://www.wyc.org/parade.htm

LMSS WYC JUNIOR RACING TEAM AWARDS PARTY
If your kids race, you already know about this, but if they are thinking of
getting involved and have friends in the program, this might be fun. I
believe a dinner is served. The date is Wednesday August 6th (tomorrow),
6:00pm at the WYC Clubhouse. Adults $10, Kids $7. An RSVP to Tonis at
952-404-1645 is requested, but I'm not sure if there's a deadline, so call
now.

SAILING EXCHANGE STUDENT
If you've ever thought of hosting an exchange student for part of the
summer, the LMSS has some information regarding a 16 year old boy from
Brazil with a strong interest in sailing. Who knows, maybe he could be the
next Torbin Grail. If this sounds interesting to you, please contact Cappy
at the LMSS. www.lakeminnetonkasailingschool.org

TRANS-SUPERIOR
The Santa-Cruz 70 Colt 45 (owner Allen Fletcher of Alpina MI, with Bags and
the boys) won the Trans Superior for the second time in a row yesterday
finishing just ahead of the Stripes. This win also gave them the resurrected
Barthel Trophy for the Great Lakes Offshore Championship. Shortly after
crossing the line, Lake Superior turned into the worlds largest freshwater
millpond and the remaining fleet spent the day working on their tan and the
night listening to flopping sails. WYC's Chewbacca finished 24 hours later
on Tuesday afternoon and the remainder of the fleet is expected to finish
within the next 12 hours. Expect some real upsets as we see who had the
patients to trim in light air all night and who decided to indulge in story
time.

See you at parade!
