NEW ORLEANS RELIEF OPPORTUNITY
The J22 Fleet has a close relationship with New Orleans because our
Midwinter's are often held at the Southern Yacht Club, which burned to the
ground after the hurricane. People are not looking for donations toward the
club at this time, but for simply the basic human needs after a hurricane
disaster.

Angela Johnson will be collecting relief items this coming Thursday and
during J22 Districts next weekend. She has a close friend who is working
directly with disaster relief organizations in LA to insure the items are
properly distributed.

A drop-off area will be at the clubhouse near the TV or the patio. They have
requested the following types of items.
- Shoes, especially sizes 10, 11 and 12 for men and women, over-the-Counter
medications, especially for diarrhea, because dysentery is starting to set
in on the population there. Advil, Tylenol, Aspirin, Allergy and Flu relief
medications.Band-Aids and bandages, Neosporin, Cortizone Cream, Sanitary
items for women, non-perishable food items (things that are light include
tuna in bags, peanut butter tubes), Towels, Washcloths, Razors, Febreeze,
Q-Tips, Sheets (Twin Size), Pillows, Vapor Rub (VERY IMPORTANT), Long Rubber
Gloves to deal with contaminated items, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, SOCKS, FLIP
FLOPS in BIG SIZES (VERY IMPORTANT)

It's best to avoid heavy items such as bottled water.

All you have to do is rifle though the house, maybe make a run to Target
and drop off the stuff at WYC. An easy way to make a personal connection
with sailors on the other end of the river. Show our support!

CAPRI WORLDS
It's happen right now as I write this. More racing on Saturday. Boats from
all over North America (we'll some great guys from Canada, at least) are
here. Great spectating on Saturday as big winds are forecasted for those big
masthead chutes and pinched sterns. I'm bringing my camera!

J22 DISTRICTS
Next weekend is the J22 Districts. NOR's are posted at
http://www.wyc.org/j22/Districts.htm. Not too late to enter as I understand
we have lots of prizes this year that may even filter down far enough to
reach my boat. Thanks to Evergreen Jewelers for providing a new super cool
traveling trophy.

J24 DISTRICTS
In two weeks we have the J24 U-Gotta Regatta. Always a major event. NOR's
will be posted shortly at http://www.wyc.org/j24/default.htm

HS RACING
The Wayzata Sailing School is shifting into the Fall HS racing season. HS
classes are available to ANY HS kids regardless of ability, even if there is
not an established team at their school. No equipment is required. If you
know of some HS kid who would enjoy the excitement and challenge of sailing,
contact the sailing school to learn more. Turn them on to...
http://www.wayzatasailing.org/r-high-school.htm

The sailing school just completed their summer camp schedule with great
success, some very positive newsprint stories, great class attendance, a
week of Mike Plant out-reach camp, and hundreds of kids newly exposed to the
joys of sailing. Congratulations to the entire WSS staff of instructors on a
great first season. www.wayzatasailing.org

See you at the Relief Drive!
