DN Western Challenge
The regatta is ON for this weekend on Dead Lake somewhere up north. Race or watch, either way you know the beer will be cold. Learn more at http://www.iceboating.net/

PROPS TO TEAM SAIL
Congratulations to Blake Middleton's Team Sail which managed to raise something over 20k last year for MS research via the MS Walk. Blake missed the WYC banquet while he was at the MS banquet being recognized as leader of the top MS Walk fundraiser team of 550 teams at 17 MS walk events in 2006. Way to go Blake! http://web.mac.com/blakesail/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html

SHAKELTON CUP
Congratulations to WindDance for winning the 2006 Shakelton Cup. Dave Tsang made a good move hiring on perennial Shekelton winner Dave Crum as his partner for the event. Lickety Split put up a good fight for the event by actually re-launching their boat mid-November. Texana even made it out for a family Thanksgiving sail. A nasty protest did crop up this year, but appears to have been solved by a Fun Club arbitration hearing in some uncharted Spooner WI hot tub; however, details are typically fuzzy. Bren can rest easy now that his marina is safe.

BANQUET WRAP-UP
All hail the new Chief: Commodore Merry Beth Hovey. Thank you Scott for your service, and bon voyage on your big sailing plans. A successful WSF fundraiser with about 12k raised. David K rocks!

Congratulations to special award winners...

Doc Sam: Bob Carpenter - Jalapeno
Commodore's Special: Steve Paidosh

CLUB HOUSE - DMZ
The club house will be a demolition zone for a good part of the winter while interior renovations are underway. No club rentals will be available and the club will be largely off limits for much of the winter. Our apologies to the DN fleet.

PICK UP YOUR TROPHIES
With all the club remodeling going on, please stop by and pick up your trophies and photos ASAP. Really, seriously, get them out of there. The door combo is 1-5-2.

WE'RE #1
www.WYC.org has finally been ranked by www.Alexa.com as the most heavily visited yacht club web site in the world. Check it out before reality sets in or the winter blahs drag us down in the rankings.
