J22 NORTH AMERICANS
Here are a few tips for enjoying the J22 North Americans at WYC
- The west lot will be closed from Monday 9-11 until Friday 9-15. This
includes Thursday night. Car pool, bike, or park far far away.
- Volunteer for a day. Our club will need dozens of people to help with
meet-and-greet-and-help tasks. E-mail Merry Beth Hovey with your time window
and job preference at mbhovey at yahoo.com . A partial list of tasks is
available at http://wyc.org/Volunteer.pdf . Seriously, this can be lots of
fun, just do it.
- The boat exodus. We will need 70 J22's floating in the water in our 120
slip marina. On Sunday 9-10 after the race we will begin moving WYC boats to
Shorewood and MYC for offsite mooring. We need help ferrying crew via boat
and car on Sunday and again after the regatta. Contact George Hanson with
questions.
- Spectator Boats. 70 keelboats on one start line is pretty cool. You should
really take a day from work and check it out (which is easy to do if you're
volunteering already).
- Please Feed the Animals. Nothing makes a club look better than anonymous
club members walking up to strangers and saying "Hi, can I help you with
anything". Please enjoy the chaos and help our club put on a good face while
we are in the national spotlight.
- It's a J22 regatta tradition to burn someone's boat to the waterline as an
evening social event. If you'd like to volunteer your boat, please contact
our regatta chair Thorn Turner.

MEDIA RACE
Some KARE 11 personalities and other media big-wigs will be in a media race
on Saturday September 9th. This is a fundraiser for the WSS. If you've got
$300, you can enter, get your sponsors name on the boat, and have a great
time. Even if you don't own a J22, we should be able to get a boat for you
if you can get the sponsor. A great way to be part of the event and get some
of your 15 minutes. Contact Steve Paidosh for information.

RAFT UP
Craigge (night crawler fleet captain) has called for a raft up after the M2
this Thursday in six days. All boats invited. Bring an anchor and raft-up
just outside the mooring area after racing. Some launches are being
"organized" so that people can get food from Dee or get back to the club
early.

WSS FALL PROGRAMS
The best youth sailing in the solar system (including Pluto, which IS a
planet) is ramping up it's Fall Sailing for 2006 with a new program design.
Check it out, call your friends, join up and get your Jr. High and H.S.
friends into sailing. You don't need boats, you don't need specialized gear,
you don't need ton's of money. Send this link to any youth you know who
wants to do something adventurous they can brag to their friends about. All
kids invited, members or non-members, sailors or non-sailors.
