Weathermark at WYC.org - August 27th, 2010

Summer is nearly gone, but have a great season of fall races and regattas on tap. Here's a brief outline of what's up. 


BURTON CUP - MS CUP
This is the coolest race of the season. We race with MYC boats starting next to the MYC clubhouse. Please be aware of and avoid the scows which begin starting 30 minutes before WYC boats. Racing will go around the entire lake and finish at MYC. Afterwards there is a fantastic party at MYC  with music from Tim Mahoney and a lecture from Lori Schneider who has climbed the seven summits. Most importantly there will be a huge live auction.

Blake Middleton has stepped everything up a notch by mixing in his MS fundraising. Please make a donation to MS in one of the following ways....

- Sail by the Committee boat and give Blake a check before or after the race. He will HATE being distracted, but I know he won't turn you away. 
- Participate in the live auction at the MYC corn roast at 7:00pm. Items include...
  1. A concert at your home by Tim Mahoney
  2. A signed copy of Lori's fantastic book
  3. Four (4) individual seat auctions for rides in T6 warbird trainers in a formation flight over Lake Minnetonka and the surrounding area. 
  4. A complete set of all 21 Cities 97 Sampler music in digital format, plus tickets to the 2010 Sampler release party, PLUS a brand new Apple iPad WiFi + 3G 32GB!

We've passed the RSVP date for the corn roast, but you are welcome to stop by for the auction. 

ALSO, you must return your MS trophies to Blake if you won last year or Blake will point the finishing cannon at you and shoot.


CAPRI DOCK PARTY
The World Famous Capri 25 Dock Party is this Sunday after the race out on C dock. Swing by and have yourself a ball. The theme this year is "Classic TV Shows". So check it out and get on it.


CHAMPIONSHIP OF CHAMPIONS
Congratulations to Eric Oppen and his old man Mark for taking first place in the Lake Minnetonka Championship of Champions representing the S27.9 fleet. Other notable finishes were Blake Middleton (powerboat fleet) in second, Dave Eslmo in 4th for the J24 fleet (??), Mike Bowers in 7th for the J22 fleet.
