Calling All J/24 and J/22 Fleet #1 Sailors:

 

With temperatures in the 50s, wind and rain in the forecast for the next
several days, ice is going to melt fast on Lake Minnetonka. Average ice out
for Lake Minnetonka is April 13. It'll be open in time for the Icebreaker
Regatta. 

 

The boats stored in Glencoe are going to be available for pickup tomorrow,
April 9. There are a few more weeks to get your boat, do spring maintenance
and get it into the water before the Dave Cool Icebreaker Regatta

History of the Dave Cool Icebreaker Regatta

In honor of Dave Cool, this is traditionally the first race of the season.
This is a regatta for the hearty J/22 and J/24 sailors that are eager to
race in the cold and typically very windy conditions - baptism by fire. Dave
Cool enjoyed helping get others involved in sailing. He worked hard to help
encourage the J/22 fleet to get their boats in the water and ready to sail.

 

The weather for the Icebreaker the last few years has been favorably warm
(for sailors wearing appropriate gear) with just the right amount of wind.
This is going to be a great event. Don't miss it!
