When looking at the DNR definition I don't think the J22 has a designated 'sleeping' compartment and we don't have ALL OF THE FOLLOWING
>From DNR SiteMotorboats, regardless of fuel type, must have a functioning marine CO detector if they have an enclosed accommodation compartment, which is defined as a motorboat with all of the following:
1) Designated sleeping accommodations2) A galley area with a sink3) A head (toilet) compartment

The J22 DOES fall under this description, which does NOT require a CO2 sensor
Enclosed occupancy compartment is defined as: One contiguous space surrounded by boat structure that may be occupied by a person
If your boat just has an occupancy compartment you are not required by law to have a CO detector in the space, however, it is highly recommended for the safety of all passengers that a detector be placed in any enclosed compartment.

Arguable whether a J/22, with no cabin doors for head, stateroom, or galley, requires a CO monitor.  The DNR was supposed to send stickers with registration package, but they never did.  Question: where does the “helm” sticker go?  The application diagram shows a center console.  Lady at the DNR told me to wrap it around the tiller.  I told her that was ridiculous and decided it was the ENGINE’S  throttle/tiller, so I put a sticker directly on the engine.

In Annapolis, I found my anchor rode too short, so I bought 100’ at West marine – still too short until the measurer told me “you can stretch it dude.”  Funny regatta story from Yappa: he was told his paddle was too short.  So he duct-taped a plastic glass on the end and they said “fine now.”

Appreciate the tip on letting out max tow line:  in addition to less stretch/shock absorbing, I’ve seen crew tie it off so short I’m afraid I’ll hit boat ahead if they slow suddenly.

J22 sailors,

Perhaps I am the only one, but until I received Lars’s message today I was unware of the MN DNR’s CO sticker requirement if you have a motor on your boat.  At the third place I went today I managed to secure the required stickers.  A set of 3 is required.  I have 4 extra sets if anyone wants a set.
